![]() ![]() At night they went back to the tiny hut where they lived. The work was easy enough, but, oh, it was boring. Then they brought them down to the valley again. Usually they stayed there with the cows for two months. When it got hot in the valley, Thomas and Alfred drove their cows up to a cool, green pasture in the mountains to graze. It has been featured in the movie adaptation. The story "Harold" is possibly the most recognizable and memorable tale out of all the stories in the Scary Story trilogy for its lengthy storytelling and the unsettling picture of the scarecrow that is associated with the story. It tells the story of two farmers who make a scarecrow named Harold and over time, the scarecrow comes to life. ![]() There’s even more included after the stories, a section on the Forklore, myths and etc for you to dive into and explore.Harold is a Scary Story from Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill your Bones. Started out disappointing but finished on a high note. Brilliant stories (some of them) with the illustrations to match. I did sadly have to keep reminding myself that these stories weren’t true, even though I’m sure I read that it said that some of them were. I took this book to work with me just so that I could finish the last few stories during my break. There were even some longer stories that in this third book that you invested more time in and had more build up and more story to, which was strange as I believe this was the shortest out of the three. Be warned, some people might not like you sharing some of these at night, especially those who don’t like horror to begin with! I did, I found it funny. I was just completely into this collection at this point, I’m in ashamed to say, with all the stories, the illustrations, and I was sharing some of my favourites with people. The final book is this collection, Book 3 (More Tales to Chill Your Bones) was my absolute favourite. Plus because of how it could actually happen, which is the scariest thing for me. There are several from this book that have just stuck with me and will do because of how normal they seemed and until boom. Moving on to Book 2 (More Scary Stories), this is where I started to properly enjoy this collection and really race through the stories. These types of stories did slowly fade and you had the illustrations to always drag you back in. It took me out of that atmosphere and ruined those stories for me. There were instructions for you to give when you TELL these stories to people, like where you should speak louder, scream, jump etc, which distracted me from what I actually wanted, which was to read the stories. The first book in this collection (Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark) started off as a disappointment and was different to what I was expecting it to be like. This is a collection of the three books, put into one to form this collection. It’s coming up to Halloween and so I needed to get my scare on, so this was one of the books I decided to read. In conclusion people recieved the updated art a couple years ago and left bad reviews because of that, but it seems that whoever is responsible for selling these books responded to the backlash and began selling the books with the original art that we know and love from our chilhoods. After deciding to purchase the item regardless I was very relieved to see the beloved books I used to love reading. From a customer perspective it was very confusing deciding which reviews to trust because one says that the books do not include the original art and some say do have them. I was sceptical about purchasing this item after reading countless reviews of people recieving the reprint which had updated, bland art, but it I looked at the dates of the reviews from 2016 as opposed to reviews from 2018 and the reviews from 2018 showed that people were now recieving the books that had the original art as opposed to 2016 where people were getting the updated version. Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2018 (Paperback Version)Exactly how I remember them can't beat that original art ![]()
